RT @dznz: I've recently become obsessed by GLOBUG. I think they've been complicit in a terrible cruelty from the public for years. A thread.

Welcome To The Colony

February 28, 2016 in Craft, Wood-burning

A gift for a scientist studying Mottled petrels (Pterodroma inexpectata) on Codfish Island / Whenua Hou. New visitors and volunteers on the island often ask what all the numbered burrows are about; and this sign serves to answer those questions. It also serves as a reminder for people to be careful as they walk the tracks through the many areas of Codfish Island / Whenua Hou that are colonised by seabirds. Wood-burning with an old soldering iron, on a round of Miro windfall. Based on a photo taken several months earlier.
